About Tak

American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Tak is so brave, and we're so proud of him! When he first came into the shelter as a stray he was very scared and nervous to be around people. He'd stay huddled in the back of his kennel. Thankfully, he left his heart open. With a little time and patience, Tak has begun to warm up to people! He opens up more each day. He's still on the timid side, but he's improved so much! He's made great strides already in working on his leash skills. He still finds it a little scary sometimes, but with encouragement he walks well. He can be wary of new people at first, and he'll try and stay a little distant from you until he warms up. Loose in the play yard he keeps to himself for the most part, but he will let you pet him. He hasn't shown any interest in toys or treats yet. Tak really came out of his shell when a dog was put in the play yard next door. All of the sudden he was running and playing up and down the fence with the other dog. We've never seen him so happy! It's clear to see he's a dog's dog. He loves their companionship and they help him to feel more confident. Tak's dream family would include patient people who have other dogs for him to romp with. Tak is a 4YO Staffordshire who came into the shelter as a stray on 2/6/24. He weighs 49 lbs.
