About Shelly

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Our Shelly is 9 years old and has been a wonderful dog. With a broken heart we have decided to re-home her due to her anxiety. We have done everything within our power to help her but for the past couple of years it has progressively gotten worse. She is afraid of things that are out of our control such as anything related to rain/thunder/lighting, fireworks, and most recently, our neighbor's kids playing in their yard (basketball/batting cage). She needs a loving home, away from things that trigger her. The weather issue is uncontrollable, which means the person must have patience with Shelly during weather-related episodes as there is nothing that will console her. Other than her anxiety, she's really been a wonderful dog. She so sweet and loving. She loves people. She's been great with the kids she's been in contact with. She does not do well in a doggie day camp setting- she spends the day running away from other dogs, though. She's not friendly towards other dogs, but she's never been aggressive towards them either. She's 9 but still acts like a puppy at times. She's definitely the typical Dobie velcro dog. This is why it's so hard for us to have to re-home her. But we are hoping there is someone, somewhere who can give her a peaceful and less anxiety triggering environment where she can spend the rest of her years. We are trying this service, before having to relinquish her to the local animal shelter.
