About Banner

Meet 10 month old Banner! Our rescue took Banner in when he was just a few days old due to a severe cleft palate. He was then hand raised until he was able to eat on his own, which was much later than most puppies, due to the cleft palate. Banner has been under the care of a veterinarian from day one and he has grown, his palate has started to close. However, it is not fully closed but is being managed at this time, without surgery. He MUST drink from an elevated small animal water bottle, not from a bowl. He must be monitored with toys that are chewable. He does eat dog kibble but cannot take any canned or wet dog food or human foods that are liquidy/gooey, as they can go up into the gap in his palate, and travel to his nasal cavity. This can cause aspiration pneumonia. Other than that, Banner is your typical Frenchie! Playful, sassy, bossy and vocal. He likes other dogs but can be dominant and snarky when it comes to toys and food or things he deems as his. He's a little guy at about 15 pounds but has a big attitude! Banner loves to snuggle with his human and is crate trained and mostly housebroken (using pee pads if someone isn't around to let him out the door).
