About Aurora

2 year old coonhound shepherd mix with a great temperament. She was adopted from our local SPCA last summer by an acquaintance of ours. He was 'unable' to care for her and was planning to dump her back at the SPCA this week, but we talked him into letting us foster her and help find a forever home. As she was adopted last summer, we think her vaccinations should be current and she's spayed and microchipped. We are hoping to obtain her medical records.She's great on a leash, does well in her crate (sadly spent far too much time there, so you have to treat her or incentivise her to go in) and listens well. She's cuddly and outdoorsy. Loves to walk , sniff and explore, but also happy to cuddle up on the couch or bed. To our knowledge she's great with small dogs. She lets her 10 lb king Charles puppy friend climb all over her and attack her face and never bats an eye. She also basically ignored our elderly pug. She might do well with cats, but there would be an acclimation period. She and our cat were not necessarily friends, but by the end of the weekend the cat felt comfortable asserting his dominance, so a brave kitty would probably do just fine. Larger dogs, we're not sure. She was vocal when we met other dogs out hiking, but didn't try to approach or anything. She met lots of strangers and children and seemed good with all. She's eager to please and super smart and trainable. Already knows some commands and tricks. We are not ready for a new dog as we are grieving one we just lost, but I honestly can't think of a single reason not to love this dog and hope there's someone out there that is just right for her and ready to welcome her into their home and family. She has been neglected and starved and still has all the trust and love for people. She just needs someone to love her back and fatten her up! (We are working on this in the meantime... she is in good/safe hands now) Please share with anyone and everyone you think might be a good fit!
