About Zeppelin

German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I've posted Zeppelin for adoption a few times now without success. This is our last attempt. We got him at 8 weeks old, raised him up with our 3 young children, and have invested lots of time and effort into making him a well trained family dog. He started out well, but as he neared his adulthood, he became aggressive with our children even though he hasn't had any bad experiences with them. We had him neutered at 1 year of age. We've leash trained him and given him plenty of exercise. We hired a professional trainer to help with his aggression problems. He seemed to be getting better for a short time, but has since taken a turn for the worst even while still following training protocols and treating him well. His reactivity to our kids is getting worse, and he is now showing aggression with neighbors and family members who he previously had a good relationship with, for no apparent reason. He is even beginning to challenge my authority, bearing his teeth at me when I give him commands. He is 2 1/2 years old, and we have been working on these issues since he was 1. He is steadily getting worse. Trainer says it is likely his genetics and that he is a working dog, and will never be a family dog. Zeppelin is a serious case, and will need to be adopted by someone highly experienced who isn't afraid to handle aggressive dogs. You will not be able to walk right up and pet him and make friends with him. If we don't find someone able to take him, we will have to have him put down. We love him, but we can not take the risk with our family and neighbors anymore. Please do not contact me with advice or criticisms. We really have done all we can.
