About Waldo

Waldo showed up at our house with no collar/tag on March 2nd. We put a report in with the shelter immediately and posted on all social media attempting to find his owner to no avail. We had him checked for a microchip, but unfortunately he doesn't have one. We brought him to our vet on Monday, March 4th where he was examined (and again checked for a microchip) and given a rabies shot. The vet noted his ears were filthy (gave them a good clean!) and that he had a mark around his neck that indicated he may have been chained outside. He is intact and the vet estimated he could be anywhere from 7 months to 2 years (he has all of his adult teeth). We were going to foster to adopt as originally he got along great with our dogs (we have 4). However, as time has passed, he unfortunately has become not the best fit for our home/with our dogs. It breaks our heart, because he is SO incredibly sweet and has a great temperament, however, our dogs are no longer getting along with him. About 90% of the time they do get along, but unfortunately the not getting along is beginning to increase. We think he belongs in a home with no other dogs OR with a dog who has lots of patience. While he plays with other dogs great and has never even let out a growl, he does not respond to cues from other dogs well. If he is in the space of one of our other dogs and they give him a warning and let out a growl, he does not back away and will bark at them and try to get closer. He has very little indoor house manners (climbs on counters, tries to eat everything, etc.). However, he is potty trained. He is GREAT with kids (we have 4 who are 6 and under) but we believe he needs to be in a home with adults who have experience training or have lots of time to train and work with him.
