Tycho is a snuggly, sweet senior with some gray in his muzzle and lots of love in his heart. He's well house trained and uses a dog door at our house. He spends most of his time these days on the couch guarding the front door and notifying us of packages and passing trucks, and enjoys a nice neighborhood walk every day or two. His exercise needs are pretty minimal, and he eats regular food twice daily. We give him pumpkin puree once daily for regularity, and just because he likes it. He would love to come sit on the couch with you and nap on your lap like a cat, but he'd probably also enjoy a light farm situation where he can help you find rodents once in a while. He's lived with our Pomeranian for about 6 years now, and they get along well, but he's very picky about dogs he lives with. He prefers dogs his size or smaller who don't pay him very much attention. He's been around cats, but seems a bit too interested in them; I haven't seen him interact with one for very long. He's got a pretty good prey drive and a nice nose, so smaller animals who aren't caged are probably not a good match. We love Tycho very dearly, he's the first creature my husband and I took care of together. Our 18 month old daughter has just become too much for him, and despite our best efforts, there's a safety issue between them. He would not be suitable to a family with small children. He's happy to be around older children who are more predictable and can respect him more easily. While we are heartbroken to be making the decision to find him a new home, we think this is best for our family, which he will always be part of. Tycho is chipped, neutered, and up to date with his vaccines and vet visits. He's almost exactly 20 pounds.
