About Mia

Adoption Fee: $600
German Shepherd / Siberian Husky
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Introducing Mia, a charming young dog with stunning multicolored eyes, eagerly awaiting a forever home to start the new year. At approximately 1 year and 9 months old and weighing 50 pounds, Mia is believed to be a German Shepherd-Husky mix, although her exact breed remains unconfirmed without a DNA test. Mia's history is unknown, but she was found as a stray with her good pal, Loki, and both ended up in a shelter. She stayed there for several weeks before getting the chance to undergo a 12-week training program with Starkmark Academy. During the program, she worked alongside one of their student trainers and learned the basics. Mia is well-mannered and generally well-behaved, but continuing with basic obedience training is always beneficial. Unfortunately, her 12-week program is up, and she will be returning to the shelter soon, where she will desperately need to find a home as soon as possible. Mia walks nicely on a leash without pulling, making her an ideal walking buddy. She's mostly accident-free in her kennel, suggesting she's potty trained, but transitional accidents in a new home are normal. Mia has a gentle disposition and limited interaction with children, indicating she could likely adapt well to a family setting, although slow and careful introductions are recommended. She hasn't been tested with cats yet, but we can arrange that if needed. Mia enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely appreciate a canine playmate. Mia seems to have medium energy levels and is a smart, sweet, and bouncy girl who loves to snuggle! If her eyes don't seal the deal for you, her personality sure will! She would likely thrive in a home with a semi-active lifestyle, enjoying both outdoor adventures and quiet time relaxing on the couch. A home with a yard, preferably fenced, would be ideal for her, as she may not be well-suited for apartment living. The shelter is currently grappling with overcrowding and the harsh reality of potentially having to euthanize dogs due to a lack of space. Mia, along with many others, urgently needs a loving home. Requirements: -No apt/condo -Must have a yard (ideally fenced) Mia is up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped,spayed/neutered, and tested negative for heartworm. **All dogs are currently located in Texas and will be transported only after adoption. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Please note that PIYHR cannot guarantee the breed of our dogs, as most of them are mixed breeds from shelters. The breeds listed are educated guesses based on their features and characteristics.** For the adoption application, kindly visit: https://www.pawsinyourhandsrescue.com/application (Copy and paste the link into your browser)
