About Onyx

Onyx is a gorgeous 10 month old Black Lab mix. He is fixed, fully housebroken, crate trained, up to date on shots, and has been receiving monthly Simparica Trio to prevent any fleas or parasites. He loves hugs and kisses on his forehead, or having his super soft ears stroked. He absolutely cannot have stuffed animals or blankets (because he immediately destroys them.) Toys for aggressive chewers are his favorite. He is a comedian and loves making people laugh at his antics. (Chasing his tail is a favored activity for laughs.) He is great with kids aged 7-10 years from our experience. He would not do well in a home with cats, but gets along with other dogs. He is HIGH ENERGY (as any strong, healthy puppy is), but 20 minutes of solid exercise a day turns him into a laid back, well behaved boy. He needs a home with a fenced-in yard, or someone willing to take him for daily runs. He would come with two large cages, beds, toys, etc. (Although he should not be left unattended with the beds or have them in his cage without someone in the same room or he shreds them. Probably a separation anxiety thing.) He has been okay with the bed in his cage overnight, but he sleeps in our bedroom. He has had minor nightmares since we got him, and generally whimpers / yips in his sleep at night a couple of times. A quick reassurance of 'You're alright, Onyx.' always puts him right back to sleep. If it wasn't clear, this dog is family and we honestly do not want to part with him. But we love him enough to do what is best for him even if that means letting him go. If you feel like your home would be a good fit for this wonderful pup, please reach out.
