OWNER CANNOT KEEP DUE TO APARTMENT AND TIME (please no negative comments, owner is asking for help to rehome). Please help us find a loving, responsible home for adorable Ani, an approximate 8 month old chow/spitz mix looking puppy. Her current owner adopted her from a friend who had a litter, but is unable to keep her in her apartment now that she is about 40 lbs and still growing. Ani was born on 7/29/23 and one of parents was said to be a shepherd mix, and other is a chow mix. Ani loves playing with other dogs, and enjoys belly rubs as seen in video we have. Like many chow mixes, though, it does take her a while to warm up to strangers. She is described by her current owner as follows 'She is very friendly and playful with dogs. And she is more nervous/skittish with people and kids. She has been socialized with people but still nervous around them. She'll typically just stay beside me or my partner. If a person has a dog with them then she may warm up to them a little more. She can be high energy if not given enough exercise. She does bark when she meets strangers. Also tends to be a chewer when she's bored. That's why we give her a lot of toys to try to distract her.' Ani has no reported bites or medical issues, and is potty trained. However, we feel she would benefit from some training since she is still an active puppy. We would love for Ani to find her forever home where she can live indoors, but has someone home more often and can also walk her regularly. A backyard with a minimum 5 foot fence she can play in would also be nice. Chow or dog experience is preferred. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual) and must provide vet reference.
