Please help us find a chow savvy and responsible forever home for beautiful Miska, a 5 year old purebred female chow who was surrendered to the Conway Shelter after her owners could no longer provide for her. We were told Miska is sweet, housebroken, and doesn't mind being near other dogs. Her former owners said she would run along side all shapes and sizes, and hang out with grandkids too. However, because she originally came from an abusive home where she was apparently hit, Miska is understandably a bit head shy even years later, so best to go slow with her. And like most chows, she can take a while to warm up to people. Thus, a chow savvy home is requested. The shelter said her former owner also articulated Miska does not like to be groomed or brushed and was sedated at the groomer. As an alternative, they brushed her at home in small sections at a time. They also added that Miska does not like her paws touched or legs held. The last owners said they tested her for heartworm and she was negative for the past 4 years. We are unclear if a muzzle is used for vet appointments, but it would be recommended, as would future heartworm prevention. We are now looking for either Miska's forever home, or a foster in case she does need rescue since we may not find anyone nearby. Some transport may be available to qualified homes or rescues.
