About Angus

Adoption Fee: $50
Bloodhound mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is my sweet boy Angus. He was rescued from a shelter in a neighboring town in Central Illinois and has lived with my wife and I for about 2 months now. When we adopted him, he was in really rough shape. He was skin and bones (can see an early picture of him in pic #3), was severely malnourished and had skin infections all over. He has made a remarkable comeback and is now a healthy weight and his hair has started to grow back. Very recently, I was informed that I would have to move my family out of Illinois and relocate to a very expensive part of Phoenix for my medical training, which came as a bit of a surprise as we expected we were going to be staying in the Midwest for the next few years. To make matters even more complicated, my wife and I also recently discovered that she is pregnant and we will be expecting our first child in November of this year. All of these big life changes have unfortunately made it necessary to rehome our beloved bloodhound, since I'll be working an average of 80 hours per week for the next few years and I know my wife would have such a hard time caring for him and a newborn while I'm away for most of the day. We originally planned on taking him to Arizona with us, but Phoenix is so much more expensive than where we currently live, so the amount of house/yard space we can afford isn't nearly enough for this big boy and I don't want him to have to be cramped in a house half the size of our current one. He is an extremely goofy, loving guy. He loves people and will follow you around trying to 'help' with whatever he can. He is potty trained, basic crate trained and knows a few basic commands (sit, shake, lay down, wait til told for food). He is very very food motivated and will do anything for a treat. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with them. He has also gotten along well with our two cats, but does chase them around and tries to play with them (he doesn't understand he's over 10x bigger than them). He was only 75lbs when we first got him but is probably closer to 90lbs now. His exact age isn't known, but our vet said he's likely no older than 5 years old. He was neutered and had entropion surgery about a week before we adopted him in February.
