About Sam

German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Sam does suffer from seizures occasionally. She has medication that is administered after she comes out of it. New owner will want to establish a relationship with a local vet (references can be provided through Best Friends) to continue her prescription if they do not already. This wonderful lady is Sam! Just now coming into her adulthood. Needing to be rehomed due to her owner passing away. The family loves her but is not able to continue caring for her with all the new stress and responsibilities. She is a great family dog and is protective of her people, though does not have a bite history. She will alert the household when somebody is at the door. She is great with children and has been around kids aged 2, 3, and 6 years old. She is friendly and playful towards other dogs, warms up to strangers once she gets a good sniff, and knows a few obedience commands such as sit, down, and understand what you mean by 'outside'. Sam is house trained and received a little service dog training, however she is not fully certified. The ideal family would be one that could give her some freedom in the yard and be able to recognize her seizures and provide compassionate care while she comes out of it. Sam is a lovely dog who would love to join your family!
