About Bun Bun

Adoption Fee: $50
Rabbit
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

We are rehoming our fun little friend, Bun Bun. (Incredibly original name, right?) We have had Bun Bun for almost 4 years and have discovered that the mystery sinus issue that one of our kids has developed is actually an allergy to our funny little dude. We are really sad to let him go, but allergy meds and even moving him into my daughter's room to keep him more contained to one area haven't solved the problem like we hoped. (The rest of us are totally fine, our kiddo just happens to be extremely sensitive to him) He has been a great part of our family so we want to make sure he goes to a great family who will enjoy his personality, keep him indoors, and give him lots of love on his terms. He is a mini lop, litterbox trained, he is not neutered, and he loves being scratched behind the ears, to be softly petted, & fed little chunks of banana. He does NOT like being carried around or picked up though (which a really common rabbit trait- they are prey animals and like their feet on the ground so they could run away if there is danger) it scares him really badly. He does not do well with other male rabbits, but it's very likely he would bond well with a female. He lives in a cute white x-pen with his litterbox & hay where he had a good amount of space to hop around (and he does the funniest little flips and jumps), some wood to chew, and his toys. His greatest pleasure in life is utterly destroying wooden and grass rabbit toys, LOL. That and chunks of banana.... He mostly eats timothy grass hay that I buy in bulk from Tractor supply because it has the best price, but you can get hay from the pet store as well. He also has about a 1/2 cup of rabbit pellets a day and he loves fresh greens but he is used to them being more of a treat than a mainstay. (though I am sure he would be in heaven if you did better remembering to give him greens than I have) Bun Bun (who will hopefully receive a much more creative name from his new family) has never grown out of his baby bunny cuteness, he is utterly adorable and while he doesn't do well being carried around- he is still incredibly social and enjoys being around people. He also loves our family dog and gets very excited any time she comes to visit his pen, but when he is let out to roam around we do put our dog in her crate because she just gets so excited that she wants to play and chase and pounce, which can cause a bunny to be literally frightened to death. His litterbox is easy to care for, we buy paper pellet cat litter that is inexpensive at walmart & it just has to be changed out about once a week. Since he is not neutered he does scatter a few pellets around his space to make sure it smells like him but it has never been a problem. While he was born on a local farm he has lived indoors since we brought him home as a baby and would not adjust well to the texas heat at this point. Bun Bun will go to his new family with his pen, litterbox, his big pieces of chewing wood, and some food, hay, & litter pellets to get you started! He has a $50 rehoming fee to make sure that he doesn't go to someone planning to feed him to a snake or make stew out of him. He is for loving, not eating! Text me to ask any questions you have and see if Bun Bun would be a good fit for your family! Here's a little look at him playing, since YT automatically turned the video into a short, the post wouldn't let me add the link to the right place for videos. www.youtube.com/shorts/Tpllzby7jhk
