Our sweet Hippopotamus got some expected results from his bloodwork Friday. He's 12 and a very large dog, biggest we've taken in. Basically we suspect he's in liver failure, but the good news is we can try medication for a couple of weeks to see if it helps. Gojo also has arthritis pretty much everywhere so he's going to need to continue on a lot of medicine. Additionally there is a tumor near his airway that could grow and press on things at any moment. We've made a decision we've never made before but this guy is comfortable at the rescue with us. He knows us, the routine, a lot of our secrets, and doesn't mind the other dogs at all. Gojo will be staying with us unless a miracle human just happens to offer their home for what time he has left. It's possible Gojo might request some special things in the coming days or weeks if we feel he shifts to needing 'comfort care' only. We've sure had our hands full having a hippopotamus in the little red rescue building but he's impossible not to love. We are going to do what he needs. Paws crossed his medicine works���
