About Lulu

Adoption Fee: $20
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Santa Monica, CA ~~ transportation available Lulu is a sweet, ~1 year old, ~38 lb Cattle Dog mix that I am making the heartbreaking decision to rehome. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and is on Simparica trio for flea/tick/worm prevention. Lulu is the sweetest girl with a big personality. She is incredibly smart and trainable, food and affection motivated, and is a huge cuddle bug. Lulu loves to play tug and fetch, she also does great with food puzzle games and frozen lick mats. She is very good at sit, but does not know any other basic commands yet, though she is smart and seems to learn fast! Lulu was found as a stray, so we are still working on her manners; she has improved greatly since coming home with us. She is a bit mouthy for attention, but it is gentle. She can be a bit rough when she gets excited during play. She is not guarding over her toys at all and will bring them close to you when she wants to play! My boyfriend and I adopted Lulu about 2 months ago from a shelter in our city. Unfortunately, she has not adjusted well to city life in our apartment and would do best in a quieter home with a yard for her to play in. Since Lulu was a stray before we adopted her, we are still working on potty and crate training. She does great overnight without accidents. The main reason that she is not doing well in our neighborhood is that she has become leash reactive in the past few weeks. She is fearful of other dogs and pulls on the leash/barks at dogs who get too close. She is a bit better with people on the street, but is also very anxious when strangers pass by and will also bark at them. Our busy neighborhood is far too overstimulating for her; she is not thriving and is unfortunately not getting the exercise that she needs outside because it is so constantly busy. Just after adopting Lulu, we discovered that she has a liver condition. This condition does not affect her quality of life or her lifespan, however, our vet recommended a special diet as treatment. I am happy to provide more information and her medical test results if interested. She is a bit of a frustrated greeter and thinks she can jump on everybody, but after meeting people, she does amazing! Given how excited she can be, I am not sure how she would do around young children; we have not introduced her to any kids. Also given her reaction to other dogs on leash, I am not sure how she would do with other pets. The shelter reported that she did well with other dogs while she was there. I have never had her around cats or other animals, but there are regularly birds on our porch and she seems to notice and watch them quietly, they do not excite her much. She is pretty nervous in the car, but I am willing to transport her anywhere that can provide for her needs. I am willing to do literally anything to give her the life she deserves. I am heartbroken that even while I am trying my best, it is not enough for either of us. I am willing to transport her anywhere with the right conditions and owners to provide for her. Please reach out if you are interested, I am happy to provide any information you'd like about this sweet, lovable girl, thank you.
