About Odin

Adoption Fee: $50
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Odin is a very sweet boy and is a big lap dog. He loves attention and is very gentle the vast majority of the time. He is an energetic, athletic boy and loves to play as rough as you let him, although he listens very well and is easy to calm down when the playing gets too crazy. He is fiercely loyal to his family and is the perfect guard dog. While Odin is a very good boy 99.9% of the time, he can be grumpy at night time and can be aggressive toward strangers. He has nipped a stranger on a walking trail one time less than a year ago. More recently he was showing his teeth to my wife and when i tapped him to distract him and he bit my hand. We have an 8 year old son and do not feel good about having him in the house with our son under these circumstances. We are not prepared to dedicate the level of training and time to this issue, but he really is a great dog and should be in a home with individuals who can manage him. If i believed that there was no hope for him, I would have taken more drastic measures, but he is a good dog who just needs a level of discipline from a knowledgeable trainer. Odin is in need of an owner who understands dog training and can control him. He needs to have his energy released regularly, and we unfortunately do not have the time to do so. Odin is a very sweet dog, but has not been trained well and can be unpredictable, so he should go to an owner or family that does not have small children and has a thorough understanding of how to handle and train him. We love Odin, but we cannot tolerate his volitility with a small child living in the same house. He is actually very happy to play with other dogs and plays very well with others. He has never had a problem with cats either. Odin was brought to the US from the UK in 2023 and is originally from Poland. He will come with his original European passport and all of his things that he owns. We are only interested in sending Odin to the very best loving owner we can find, so we are not interested in getting money from his adoption. The new owner will need to arrange travel for Odin and we would like to know what his potential new living situation would be. We want him to have space to get his energy out. We love Odin very much and we want what is best for him in the next chapter of his life. Thank you for looking and reading about this great dog!
