About Hunter

Adoption Fee: $400
Beagle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

We are Beagle crazy these days, and we are thrilled to have a family of Gorgeous Beagles at our Rescue. Hunter was found with his siblings, Chase, Jack, and Ginger as country Strays in North Carolina. They were rounded up by Animal Control Officers and brought to a high kill Shelter. Hunter and his Clan completely bewitched Shelter staff and were quickly transferred to us before their euthanasia date. Although it seems Hunter has been raised with siblings, we have socialized him with other dogs, so that he can be adopted alone. Of course, he also could be adopted with one of his siblings to folks who would like a pair of compatible dogs. Hunter is an excellent family dog, and is affectionate with adults and children of all ages. He could easily join a multi-dog home, and in fact, we would prefer that he have canine companionship, because he seems to enjoy other dogs so much.%A0We have not tested him with cats.%A0 At just two years old, Hunter is a beautiful boy with black and tan coloring. He is a small dog at just 26 pounds. Beagle lovers will find him true to the Beagle breed standard. As a scent hound, he is nose driven and preoccupied with any interesting smells.%A0While Hunter derives a lot of mental stimulation from leisurely strolls, he also needs brisk focused leash walks to perfect his heel command, and work off some energy.%A0Adopters may wish to use the Halti, or Gentle Leader, to help refocus the training walk, and differentiate it from the sniffing stroll. Hunter can be a little stubborn in obedience training, but with patience he will come along nicely, and certainly would be able to achieve his Canine Good Citizenship certification.%A0He has a%A0confident temperament, and is extremely friendly and well behaved in stressful situations like the Vet or groomer.%A0Hunter has great presence, and moves through the human world in an easy manner. Hunter is house trained and crate trained.%A0Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.%A0He is in optimal health, and have been recently neutered and has had routine vaccinations and health screenings.%A0 If you are interested in Hunter, please write to Denise at%[email protected]%A0or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
