About Pearl

LOCATION: San Antonio, Texas DOB: 03/02/2021 (Estimate) Hi everybody, my name is Pearl and I am a SUPER MODEL. Full stop, period, end of sentence. I am originally from Houston, Texas but I am now living my best life in San Antonio, Texas., specifically in Southtown because I am cool, really cool. I am beautiful, really beautiful. I have black shiny fur, very long legs, an even longer tail and liquid amber brown eyes that will melt your heart. I am also sweet - really sweet. I really want to be besties with someone! OK - I am going to let Foster Mom take over now! Hi all! As Pearl told you above, she is a VERY beautiful, black, large Great Dane! She is soft as velvet and her eyes will melt your heart. She knows how to use her eyes by laying her head in my lap and staring at me. Pearl is an absolute love bug that will not leave my side or let me out of her sight. She is a VELCRO lady. Physical touch is her love language and she would be content cuddling morning, noon and night. Pearl is very well behaved in the house, is house broken, and goes potty as soon as she is let out. She does need you to stay outside with her and would not do well left out on her own. She is very polite about her potty needs and prefers a schedule to be let out and will get antsy if you wait too long. Pearl IS a counter-surfer (bye-bye cheese quesadilla!) and will get into mischief if there are good snacks or anything of interest left on the counter. She is not food aggressive and will easily let me take things back out of her mouth if she takes something she should not have (looking at you Snickers wrapper!). She is fed apart from her Foster Sister as she eats her food quickly and would love to trot over and finish her Sister's food as well. Pearl is crate-trained and will go into her crate with some treat coaxing, but does not love it in there. Instead, while I am at work, she stays in the office (the Pearly Pad) which is set up with her crate (door open) and a comfy additional bed, her food and water and some toys. SHE DOES GREAT while I am at work and will not bark or fuss. At night Pearl sleeps in the office (the Pearly Pad) but would be more than happy to sleep in a doggy bed in the bedroom, or even on the bed with some gentle training. Pearl is leash trained but does use a harness instead of a collar. She LOVES to walk side by side with her Foster Sister and enjoys exploring the neighborhood. She knows 'sit' so that her harness can be put on and is working on 'wait' to calmly walk out the front gate. Pearl rides fine in the car. With slow introduction Pearl and her Foster Sister get along great! Due to her very loving nature, Pearl will try to wiggle her way between me and Foster Sister to get extra attention but is now learning 'boundaries' as I will hold her away to continue to pet Foster Sister. Pearl is a fast learner and is grasping this concept quickly. She would do fine with another dog, but she would also LOVE being a single dog so that she could get ALL THE LOVE! Did I mention she loves love?!? Pearl has been fine with small children but a house with teens and above would be best as Pearl is unaware of her size and because her long black tail is an absolute WHIP. Her tail is NO JOKE. I warn everyone 'heads up!' when they come over. It is unsure of how Pearl would do with a cat, but she does get a little 'perky' when she sees one out on her walks. Some additional fun things we have discovered: She LOVES to drink water straight from the kitchen faucet and the outside garden hose. She will drink the bath water - while I am in the tub - and will also 'kiss' me repeatedly while I am in the tub. She has wonderful recall. We use the command: 'Pearly, come come!' and she races back. She loves to be in the bathroom with me when I get ready and loves to have makeup brushes tap, tap, tapped on her face.
