Courtesy Posting: PHOENIX, AZ- ID #A4952635- 'BAYMAX' - MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE (WEST VALLEY) - GORGEOUS, 59 LB, NEUTERED CREAM CHOW BOY, ADOPTABLE, BUT MAY NEED RESCUE AND THUS ALSO A FOSTER TO SAVE HIS LIFE! URGENT - CHOW SAVVY HOME OR FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT NEEDED FOR 8 YR YOUNG CHOW BOY 'BAYMAX' OWNER SURRENDERED (THEY GAVE NO REASON). PLEASE CONTACT ROBIN WITH ANY QUESTIONS, AS SHARED POSTS AND COMMENTS MAY NOT BE SEEN OR ANSWERED. We are in urgent need of finding a patient and loving chow savvy home, or a foster (foster-to-adopt) and rescue for this beautiful chow mix boy named 'BAYMAX'. He came in as an owner surrender on 3/16/24 (no reason given) and weighs 59 lb and is estimated to be 8 years young with a gorgeous cream coat. It is believed he may have lived his entire life with his previous owner. He has no medical issues reported. Per the shelter: 'Baymax A4952635 male neutered chow chow. He is an owner surrender. He got along with a male German Shepherd and cats. There were two toddlers at home. He knows sit, shake, turn and down. He tugs and pulls on the leash. He lived indoors with access to a doggy door. He barked at strangers. He takes towels and clothes outside but he does not tear them.' Some of his shelter notes state: 'Pup was on the outside portion of kennel laying down when handler approached. Didn't come forward when handler called over so divider was closed and met with pup on outside. Pup was by divider when handler approached. When handler called pup over kneeled down pup slowly moved towards handler but stopped in middle of kennel. Handler was able to open kennel door and leash with no issues. Pup walked with medium pull to yard, very zig, zag, jumpy due to dogs barking. In play yard pup would avoid handler but stayed close. Pup would follow handler but retreat when handler would turn around. Handler was able to leash and walked pup back to kennel. Pup had same medium pull to kennel, still jumpy with barking dogs. Walked into kennel and allowed handler to remove leash with no issues.' We are looking for both a home as well as a foster in case he does need rescue, or someone may foster to adopt him. We will be posting video, additional pictures and updated on Facebook as we receive such. If you may be interested in adopting, please contact the shelter directly at (602) 506-7387, ask for him by ID. This is his listing link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/MRCP/A4952635 Adoptions are currently only $25 currently and include her neuter, microchip and vaccinations. If interested in fostering, fostering-to-adopt, or helping in some other way (ie., pledging for his rescue), please also contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap. We will try to pair fosters or interested parties with a rescue group. Rescue groups may contact the shelter directly at [email protected] and by calling 602-506-7387 and providing her ID.
