About Busy

Well, look who's ready for adoption! One of our special burn dogs, BUSY, is ready to find his new home! BUSY is a 6 year old, 10.4 pound sweet Shih Tzu. If you follow our page you know his story, but for those who don't, Busy was in an outdoor kennel fire that tragically took the lives of 19 dogs. Five of the survivors were surrendered to us by the owner to get them the care that they needed. Busy has healed up well enough that he can find his new home! He still has some hair loss and scarring on his back and the top of his head, and his hair may never completely grow over some of the areas, but he's a handsome boy nonetheless! Besides being burned, Busy also lost an eye due to the fire but he has adjusted beautifully and gets around just fine. This shy boy will stay close by, but is hesitant to approach. He has been handled a lot throughout this ordeal and is definitely getting used to human touch! He does shy away from being picked up but once you get him he usually just lies down and enjoys getting pets and scratches. He wants to be loved, he just needs someone to show him the way! Busy is very good with other small dogs, especially his sisters and brother that he came with. He will play with them and snuggle up in a pile for naps. He is the kind of dog that is going to need another small dog in his home to help him feel more comfortable and safe. We have not tested him with cats and kids will overwhelm him. He definitely would prefer a quieter home. Busy is not leash trained and needs a home with a fenced yard. He is too unsure of the unknown to be in an area that's not fully secured for his comfort and safety. He is not fully potty trained. Healing has been our main focus with him so he does need someone to work with him. He does know how to use a doggie door and enjoys exploring outside with his doggy friends. At night Busy sleeps all night in a dog bed in the bedroom. He has been to the vet (many times!), is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Busy is a good little dog who has been through a very traumatic event and he needs a loving home where he can start over as a beloved pet! *We are located in Pensacola Florida. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
