About Raya

Adoption Fee: $430
German Shepherd / Australian Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Hello, My name is Raya! I am a 9 mos. old Aussie/GSD blend, but I take after my German mom the most. I am female, 56 lbs, recently spayed, utd on shots, on heart worm preventative and flea/tick medicine, and full of energy and play! Check out my pretty blue eye! I came to ASF with several of my siblings with very little socialization. So, as a result, we were very scared when strangers came and took us away and separated us when our human mom got very sick. Now, I am very happy-go-lucky in my foster home with my pack siblings and my human family. I am still very much a puppy with loads of puppy energy to burn, and love to give. I forget my manners sometimes and use my mouth to get your attention/play with you or jump up to greet you. I am not trying to hurt anyone, I just get too excited and my foster mom keeps reminding me to settle down. I love toys and will go from one to another to another, so I need a BIG toy box. This is my 'me' time, when I entertain myself. I love to play with the resident puppers,... There are 5 of them! We all get along, and I have different play styles with each of them. I am house broken to a doggy door and take myself outside when I need to go. I am very good and clean in my crate and quietly sleep all night. I have a loud, low, deep bark that I use to alert you if some strange noise or movement occurs. I will also bark at the other pups if they ignore me when I try to play. I need room to run! A fenced in yard is a good idea to keep me safe, because if I get the zoomies or interested in something new I often have selective hearing. I learn things quickly and will try my best to understand what you ask of me. Foster mom is teaching me to sit, down, shake, place, touch, off, wait, and bedtime. I am a big clutzy girl at times and I may be too much for small kiddos. Maybe teens would be better friends for me. Believe me, I am a very good girl in my foster home, but I have a very nervous side when we leave the house/yard. I ride ok in the car, but I prefer shotgun, so I can be close to you. It can be a bit scary for me. Strange places and strangers put me on the defensive. I bark and retreat. My adopters will need to be super patient with me and allow me to approach them. Forced contact, like at the vet for an exam, really upsets me, and I have 'air snapped' to warn people away. We try to go to pup friendly places just to get used to being around others, and I have gotten a lil better, but still a fraidy cat. My foster mom has given me meds to relax me when I have to go see those scary people that poke me with sharp needles and check my ears and eyes etc... I am still very reluctant to allow them near me. Foster mom had family come in for a visit that stayed in the house with us. Even though she liked them and told me they were ok, it still took about 3 full days for me to accept them. They basically ignored me until I felt they could be trusted. Then I was good for pets, but I still barked at them when they appeared. Another patient dog to play with, and continue to school me in how to be a good pack member will be key in my growth in my new home/family. If you are patient with me,... once I trust you, and feel safe, I have lots of love to give, laughter to share, and loyalty beyond measure. Foster mom says that in my current home with those that I know and am comfortable with, I am a confident happy pup, and you would never know that anywhere else that I would be fearful. I just need time and patience. I have a great amount of potential and will bond tightly to those that have the calm, relaxed understanding I need to get to know them. Multiple meet and greets will be needed for Raya. If she sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $50 REFUNDABLE spay deposit that will be refunded upon proof of spay and a $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new family.
