We are in urgent need of finding a patient and loving home, or a foster (foster-to-adopt) and rescue for this 1 yr old, 37 lb timid boy named 'Negrito' who is now is RESCUE Only & Euth Listed and does not have much time. Negrito is a 1 yr old chow/shep looking boy who was an owner surrender and is shut down in the shelter. He has been given a few days extension on his euth date of 3/17 after some promising social time in his kennel. Timid but exhibiting no fear reactivity or aggression, Negrito just needs a gentle hand and lots of treats to come out of his shell. He can have a slip lead put on without issue, but it appears he has never walked on leash. Leash panic is a trainable issue. Luckily, Negrito is small enough to be carried and did ok being picked up - See video. After 15 minutes in his kennel with volunteers he moved from his curled-up position and came to the front of the kennel to accept treats. Cautious but curious, Negrito just needs a quiet home environment and more handling to flourish. At barely a year old this boy deserves the chance to live a full life. Don't let his story end here. Shelter welcomes new transfer partners and transport to different area of New Mexico/neighboring states is possible.
