About Lilly Ann

Cocker Spaniel
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Name: Lilly Ann Baby Age: Unknown, owner estimates around 15 years, 'give or take' Breed: Cocker Spaniel (18 pounds) Sex: Female (spayed per owner) Location: Union County, NC Lilly Ann Baby's previous owner passed away several years ago, and her current owner agreed to hold her temporarily until a new owner could be found. She never heard back from her previous owner's family and has been unable to reach them. Now, several years later, Lilly Ann is completely blind and her current owner is having difficulty caring for her. She writes that she is elderly, visually and physically impaired herself, her home has stairs, and she has almost fallen over Lilly Ann several times. She's afraid she or Lilly Ann will sustain major injuries and is hoping we can help. She has tried reaching out to other organizations over the past several months and has not yet had any luck. Vet Info: Per her owner, Lilly Ann is spayed. Her three year rabies vaccine expired in February 2024 and she has not had a recent heartworm test. Dog Info: Lilly Ann is an indoor dog with run of the house. She is housebroken and leash trained, and knows simple commands such as, Come and No. Lilly Ann's owner describes her as good with women and cats, and she currently lives with two cats. We asked for more details about how Lilly Ann is with others, and her owner wrote, 'Lily Ann Baby seems to bond with a female and is more comfortable with cats ,. Nervous around dogs. Not aggressive but, shakes and pants when dogs are around.' She is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never bitten or shown aggression. Lilly Ann's owner believes she is completely blind due to severe cataracts, and gave us more details: 'She is able to get around well and also eats well. Her only impairment is that she is completely blind now.' She also wants us to know what a good girl Lilly Ann is, and she only wants the best for her. She writes, 'She is friendly, gets around well, eats well, gets along with cats, and is overall a great pet. Due to her age and severe cataracts she is now completely blind. Since I am physically and visually impaired myself and my home is equipped with many stairs that hinder me, they hinder her now as well. She has fallen down them several times and has almost made me fall down them with her. I am afraid she (and myself) will sustain major injuries if this was to happen again.' We asked for an update and her owner wrote, 'She is good. Eats well, walks around. But, I've still got to get someone to help me place her. A house with not many or no stairs. Since blind, she gets confused about steps. I live in a split level house, and have issues on my own. Arthritis, visual problems and just can't keep on this way.' **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
