About Augustus

Augustus is a beautiful brindle pitbull (small, about 30 lbs). He is high energy and cannot gain weight because he is very active. His first owner was mean; Augustus is very sweet but does not appreciate chaotic roughhousing or simulated violence between humans. He will climb into the action and gently nip the perceived perpetrator. He will gladly play when you roughhouse with him and loves to chase. He is a powerful dog and when he's just wagging his tail, if you're in range, you'll know it. He wants to be in your chair with you at all times! He is not food aggressive with humans. He is intensely food motivated and therefore eager to train. He is smart and learns tricks quickly: paw, sit, lay down, roll over, spin, stay (not 'speak' because he considers loud voices aggressive). Low toy motivation except sticks and he loves to run! He is really excitable and when overstimulated he has a big boy bark - really loud, but never incessantly. He is anxious and destructive when left alone. He's working on getting crate trained. Very well potty trained!
