Some say it's chance, luck, or just coincidence that brought me to my foster parents, but my foster mom says it's pure, 'Kizmet.' Hi! My name is Kizmet! I am a very handsome 6 yr old retriever who is looking for a very special dog savvy owner to love me. You see, my owner went into the hospital and I ended up in the scary shelter. I've been feeling sad and a little lost, but coming out of my shell at my foster parent's home. I wasn't socialized and I need slow introductions. I am new to the leash, so leash walking is a bit of a challenge for me. When I see another dog on a walk, I can hyper-focus on them and vocalize. I had a slow introduction to my furry foster brother and we coexist nicely. I am aloof to him and like playing with my toys instead of him. I'm looking for a very special furever family who will be very patient with me and respect my need for ample time to decompress and slow introductions to other people and dogs. I need a dog savvy owner who will read my queues and respect moving at my own pace. I need someone who will continue to work with me to increase my confidence and slowly increase my comfort with socialization. After I gain trust, I love to snuggle and play with my toys.
