Meet HANK! Hank is a 10 year old, 17 pound Poodle who was surrendered by his owner LOCATION: Pensacola, FL NEEDS: Quiet home as an only dog or with another calm dog. **To meet HANK and be considered for adoption you must first submit an ADOPTION APPLICATION using this link- https://form.jotform.com/232395363383057 or by filling out an application on our website- aplaceofhoperescue.com** Hank was surrendered to us in pretty rough shape. It was obvious that he had not been cared for. We got his ready for his new home and he was adopted but returned after a couple of biting incidents. We immediately took him back and began working with him. Here's what we know: Hank can be a grumpy old man and does not like his peaceful world disturbed. That said, he usually is a laid-back mellow fellow. He likes gentle scratches, snout rubs, pets and belly rubs and when he's done getting love and attention, he acts like a goofy puppy. What Hank doesn't like is being stepped on, picked up abruptly, disturbed while sleeping, and made to do things he is not prepared to do (he will go out when he's ready, thank you very much), and he will let you know about it. His primary trigger for getting nippy is feet. He does not like to be moved with a foot. He may have been stepped on too many times, or kicked in the past. Hank really just wants to relax on a soft bed in the sunshine, get some loving, and eat yummy, healthy food. His new person just needs to be mindful that he is a senior dog who has earned the right to chill! Hank is completely house trained. He enjoys going for walks and we recommend he continues to do so for weight loss (he's a bit overweight) and joint health. Considering he is an older boy, Hank can be lively, but he also likes to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy the warmth. A fenced yard would be great for him, but is not required. Even though he gets along with all the calm dogs in his foster home (but can get grumbly if he is run over by another pup) Hank would much prefer a home with another older, senior pup, or to be an only dog. He should not go to a home with kids. Cats are an unknown. At night he sleeps either on the big bed or an orthopedic dog bed next to the big bed. He is currently recovering from an ACL tear. Hank has been to the vet for a wellness check, just had his shots updated, is neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is a good boy who deserves all the love he can get in his twilight years! *We are located in Pensacola Florida.
