Hey there, everyone! I'm Leo, a friendly, active, people-loving 13-pound golden wire-coated Portuguese Podengo Pequeno/ Shih Tzu mix fella with white tuxedo markings who was born about March 2022. Don't you love my adorable under bite? Although I can be initially shy when I meet you, I have the delightful reputation of being 'the best snuggler.' I get along great with hoomans of all ages -- adults as well as kids -- and other dogs. It's hard to determine my exact heritage without a DNA test, but I'll tell you a little what to expect if I have Podengo blood. 'Pequenos' are the smallest of the three sizes of Portuguese Podengos. We're lively, playful, alert, highly intelligent, and independent hounds who make excellent family companions. We're tolerant, compliant, and eager to please our family. Loyal, easy-going, and loving, we make strong bonds with our family but can sometimes be suspicious of strangers. Then again, my under bite indicates that I may have some Shih Tzu in me. Some dogs live to dig holes and chase cats, but a Shih Tzu's idea of fun is sitting in your lap and acting adorable as you watch TV. Imagine yourself with me in your lap, looking up to you with my big dark eyes and sweet expression. Shih Tzus make a great pet if you live in an apartment or lack a big backyard because we require minimal exercise. I'm homeless because I was found running the mean streets of Houston as a stray, and thank heavens a Good Samaritan rescued me and turned to Miss Donna to find me a fantastic home.
