About Charlie

Adoption Fee: 25
Mastiff / French Bulldog
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Hello, My husband and I found this sweet boy running down our street on Thursday March 7th in Greenville SC and brought him home with us (vet said he looks like Bulldog/French mastiff mix). He apparently had been running around the area for at least 2 weeks prior but nobody had been able to catch him. People had posted pictures online of him in various locations, but no owner came forward. I had him checked for a microchip, he has one but the registration isn't active and the old number associated with it is disconnected. We posted him on PawBoost, Nextdoor App, Facebook, and other lost/found pet websites. I also searched all of those websites, and he is not listed on any of them as missing, I even checked the neighboring states and went back a year. We already looked into Greenville Animal Care, as well as the Humane Society, and neither are options due to the high likelihood of euthanasia, and time constraints (the Humane Society has an 8 week wait time for surrender). Due to my husband's schedule and the amount of time I am out of state caring for my elderly dad and aunt, we are unable to keep him. Unfortunately, due to upcoming travel, we are unable to take care of him beyond next week. My husband could transport him the 15th, 16th, or 17th. We took him to the vet yesterday for a full work up in anticipation of finding someone to foster him. He is about 7-8 years old, he received his rabies shot, his blood work is normal, he has healthy teeth, he does have a mast cell tumor that will eventually need to be removed and biopsied, he's being treated for worms, and he did test positive for heartworm as well. He is favoring one of his back legs but, despite that, he walks great. We were concerned he may have been hit by a car, but we had images done at the vet, and the vet said it is osteoarthritic in nature and we started him on Rimadyl. He is the most calm, quiet, gentle, and sweet dog. He does not have any food aggression with us. He was very calm and relaxed around the other dogs at the vet. He's great on a leash, completely housebroken, and over the past few days he's been a rockstar at the vet, riding in the car, getting picked up and handled, and getting bathed. His tail is usually wagging and and he's a snuggler. We are just hoping against hope that someone can help us. We just can't bring ourselves to give him to Greenville Animal Care knowing there is a very high likelihood of euthanasia. He is just too sweet of a boy not to get the care he needs and have a loving home. We have reached out to every other rescue org we know of, and all are at maximum capacity. Pics and video are attached below. I can also be reached on my cell at 321-960-6254 Thank you so much!! Heather Hass
