Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Alfie! Afie is a 7-year-old, 24 lb. Beagle who was found as a stray. He was heartworm positive and needed a safe place to rest and recover. Alfie is one of our younger seniors and has good vision and hearing. He was neutered at the shelter and has been receiving medication for his heartworms. Due to his treatments, Alfie will need to be on restricted exercise and lots of rest until the end of March. After this, he will be free to run and play and not need any medicines. Alfie can easily do stairs, walks on a leash, and is fully potty trained. He can be easily startled by sudden movements though, so a home without small children is best. Alfie loves being with people and really really loves his food. He will try and be sneaky to get some extra treats or just melt your heart with his puppy dog eyes. Alfie enjoys being in the car, running around outside, and cuddling with his foster family. He gets along with cats and would love to have a confident dog in the house to be his buddy.
