Courtesy Posting: CASA GRANDE, AZ (BTWN PHOENIX & TUCSON)- URGENT, BEAUTIFUL 45 lb FRIENDLY FEMALE YOUNG CHOW 45 LB PUPPY 'SAGE'- 1 YR OLD PUPPY IN NEED OF A LOVING, FOREVER HOME, OR FOSTER ASAP. Owner cannot keep her due to rough play with smaller dogs in the home, please no negative comments as owner is asking for help. Please help us find a loving, responsible and forever home (or a foster we can refer to a rescue) for this beautiful, young and rare blue female chow 13 month old puppy now named Sage. She seems to be full grown now at 45 lbs. Her current owner describes her as 'friendly with people once she becomes accustomed. She is very affectionate, loves cuddles and loves playing with adults. She can be skittish at first meeting, barking and not approaching. She is more friendly outside of the home. Like when she is walking or was at training, she was more willing to meet people.' For these reasons though, a chow savvy home is preferred. Sage was originally adopted as a young puppy by someone who did not have time for her and was gone often, had the intention to use her to breed, and left her very matted. Thankfully, their pet sitter intervened and offered to take her in. This new home took the time to bring her to puppy obedience class, potty trained her, groom her (but had to shave her down a few months back) and got her spayed and vaccinated. However, they have two small dogs, and while Sage gets along with them, as she has grown larger, they are finding she plays too rough with small dogs which has led at times to accidentally hurting them. Therefore, we are looking for a new home with no small dogs since Sage is an active puppy and a bit higher energy than some chows perhaps. Sage's current home says, 'We pet around her mouth, her bottom. She gives us her belly and loves to be hugged. She likes to lick us as well. As we introduced her to my family, once she warms up to someone, they can pet her anywhere. She is non-aggressive towards people. My husband often holds her like a baby and she loves it. She snuggles in our bed and is very loving. Sage lives indoors, is potty trained, crate trained, rides well in a car and knows how to use a pet door. She has access to our backyard with grass whenever she likes. She walks well on a harness but can get excited and pull when she sees another dog. With our smaller female dogs, she is friendly and loves to play. She has recently been to beginner training where she met other dogs outside of our home. She is hesitant to meet at first, but once she began seeing them regularly, she wanted to play with them when she saw them. She has done well with some bigger female dogs and she has also been aggressive with bigger female dogs trying to establish dominance depending on the other dog's personality. She has never started an incident, however when she was snapped at, she did snap back and we needed to separate the dogs. We have never seen her show aggression towards people. We have more details, photos and video on her FB post at:https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10165312169233125&id=783968124 We are now looking for a responsible and loving forever home asap. A vet name and contact, short application, virtual or in person home inspection and is requested. Must do a meet and greet to see if they are compatible. Sorry, we do not do transport to private homes unless a rescue is involved due to risks of a home or dog not working out for any reason. However, the current home would consider meeting a home part way if it is not too far. If you would like to apply, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with her placement.
