About Sasha

Hi, my name is Sasha. I was found in a dry creek bed on the West Side of San Antonio, covered in thorns and burrs, in July 2023, with an old collar that was too tight around my neck. The humans who found me took me to their office and cut old the collar off so I would be more comfortable, and they got me a pretty pink collar to wear that's a lot more comfortable. They even tried to contact my owner, but no one came to get me. Since then, I've been living in the humans' office and have been the office mascot. Unfortunately, they cannot take me home because I don't like little dogs (they have two dachshunds) because they make me nervous with their barking, but otherwise I LOVE other big dogs, and I love to play! Because my owners are getting ready to retire and travel and I won't be able to stay in the office when they do, I need to find another home. I'm a very good girl, very calm, but sometimes I get the zoomies and like to run around...for about two minutes. Otherwise, I like to sleep on my blanket (I don't like dog beds) and I like to lay on the floor by someone's feet. I'm not too crazy about car rides but I will get in when I am coaxed. Sometimes I make people pick me up to get in the car if I don't feel like leaving! I'm not a licker, but I do love to sniff you and see where you've been. I love to go for walks and I walk very well on a leash, but because I am a black dog, I do get hot if we're out for a really long time. I also like to chase the neighbor's cat and some of the squirrels outside, but I'm not trying to get them to eat them - I just want to say hi! I'm a good guard dog, too, because I bark when people come to the front door, and I have a very loud bark. I'm not threatening at all; I just want my humans to know someone's there. Then I say hi and ask for treats. I can sit and shake hands. I weigh about 65-70 pounds, and I'm very healthy and loving. I don't know exactly when I was born, but the vet thinks I'm about 2 years old. I think I am mostly black Labrador, but I think I'm something else, too. I don't have any marks that indicate that I've been fixed. I don't have any known health issues, either, and I LOVE treats, especially pig's ears and NUBZ bones. I would really like to find my forever home with someone who likes to have a big, furry carpet laying at their feet, and go for some walks so I can have more treats when we get back. -Sasha
