Ϭ%90 Story time with sweet Heidi %90%BE This beautiful girl was dumped in Lago Mar or something like that over 2 years ago. Her first confirmed sighting was December of 2022. February 14, I went on a golf cart ride and this dog ran towards my golf cart out of no where. I tried to call her to me, no luck. Went back with food and she was gone. So I went for another golf cart ride the next morning and she was in the same area. I got some pics, left some food and made a post in our neighborhood group, the amount of people that said she's been back there homeless for so long broke my heart. How has no one been able to help this sweet baby? Backstory that I learned: In June of last year, a team of Lennar Houston builders came in for a new phase of construction. The supervisor began feeding her and she took up residence under their trailer. She would follow the guys around with her fluffy wagging tail but she wouldn't let anyone touch her. So every day I went back there with food and water for her. She let me get near but I was only able to pet her when she was waking up for a nap and didn't hear me get that close but wanted the food I was holding. She eventually learned my golf cart and car and learned the peoples cars that were helping me and as soon as she saw us she would take off. That's when I reached out to Melinda Gleghorn who has a trap. After several days of attempting to trap, it was clear she was smarter than us. So, Statewide Animal Control and 'Builder Bob' assisted by walking the darter right up to the steps she was sleeping behind so he could use a blow dart. Within minutes she was down and secured on February 28, 2024! It's obvious humans have failed her and she's never known kindness or even love. Animal control stayed with us till she was recovered from the dart and she's been decompressing in my garage since. She's never felt a soft, kind touch and was so confused with what was going on. She is incredibly submissive and just wants to be invisible. But somehow in less than 48 hours I was able to PET HER! HALLELUJAH! To me (I am not a pro) she doesn't have a mean bone in her body and doesn't know how to dog, AT ALL. She hasn't left my garage because she shuts down when a lead goes on but has taken shelter in the kennel and under the golf cart. She's opening up her body language and shows some excitement when I walk in (I got a little tail wag this morning) and has now allowed me to give her all the pets and doesn't remove herself from me. I'm trying my best to help her but I have 4 dogs and an 8 month old baby. She definitely needs someone experienced to help her, probably someone with more time than I have, and allow her to blossom at her pace. She's a German Shepherd (maybe some Great Pyrenees also) and at least 80-90 pounds. She's '%BC%8FNOT'%BC%8F chipped, I scanned her whole body yesterday. If anyone can open up their home to her please let me know. I'm not going to take her to a shelter and have her be euth after already being failed by humans for 2 years, she deserves so much better. Her teeth are WHITE, I think she's young. She has a good appetite, I've been able to clean her ears and give her oral flea meds. I'm still waiting for her to decompress more so hopefully we can get her to a vet soon without traumatizing her anymore. But I'm loving the baby steps we've taken. Please share so hopefully we can find her a loving home %90%BE%9D%A4%8F
