Hello everyone! Please meet Ranger. He just turned 2 and I am trying to rehome him after I rescued him from a bad situation. Plott hounds are working dogs, can hunt, track, and rescue with the right training. They were originally bred to hunt boar and bears. Ranger is an extremely intelligent dog who doesn't mix with apartment living and deserves to live his life out with someone with property or a farm. Ideally someone who is looking for their next hunting buddy and would be willing to put in the time and energy required to make Ranger the best dog around. He is about 60lbs, sleek and beautifully brindle. He is good with people, other dogs, cats, and goats but comes on strong at times. He's also met some chickens which was confusing to him. Ideally he would go with someone who already has a working dog (to help teach him how to dog) or someone with hound experience. His first instinct is fear (due to the previously mentioned bad sitaution) but he warms up very quickly. He is playful and goofy but also very stoic at times. He needs mental and physical stimulation to be his best self which is why property is a must. Very food driven and loves fetch. He lacks confidence which we have been working through with training but some of that lack of confidence is likely due to living conditions. He is crate trained, and the crate would go with him to his new home. He isn't a fan of baths or nail trimming, we've had to take him in to get this professionally done. It's not ideal for me to rehome him, he is loved but given his breed and instincts, I want to do what is best for him.
