About Poppy

Meet Poppy! This little miss cutie patootie is a love bug and full of puppy energy! She is roughly 11 months old and is still learning but is doing really well with her training. She gets along well with her older canine housemates and is very curious about the resident cats. She does well with them just wants to play with everyone! Poppy will need continued work on learning to contain her excitement as she is still young and can be a bit much for any older pets when it comes to energy and play. But she is learning! Poppy is house broken, will let you know when she needs to potty and is crate trained. She may protest the crate for a bit but then will settle and fall asleep. This sweet girl loves to snuggle with her person and will sleep for hours that way. She is doing well on leash but does pull a bit still. She enjoys playing with her toys and fetching. Poppy comes when called as well! The puppy in her can't say no to a good shoe chew, so shoes need to be put up. She is also being worked with regarding jumping up on people and putting her front paws up on the counter. These are normal issues for pups her age and she is responding well with the training she is receiving. Miss Poppy does well with recall too! She has responded positively with everyone she meets, including teenagers and young children in controlled environments. Uncontrolled settings are an unknown, as her fosters do not have children of their own. She is gentle taking treats and has shown no food aggression towards people. Poppy is a lovely, sweet little pup and will make someone a wonderful family pet and companion. She loves being part of a family, wants to follow her people everywhere and is actually pretty easy going once she gets her excess energy spent! We suspect she will be great with kids of all ages.
