About RUDY

Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I inherited Rudy from my Dad. He has Alzheimers and couldn't care for him any longer. I have a female labradoodle and they are fine. My neighbor has a mix breed and brings her for visits and they get along fine. He is a purebred, we got him for my dad when he was a year old from folks who said their daughter would not take care of him as promised. He will be 5 in July, he's in great health and is primarily an outside dog. I put him in our garage at night, and let him in the house when I'm home and he doesn't make a mess of anything, but he prefers being outdoors. The problem is he has a bite history, and it's always been men. But not anyone he sees regularly. He's not actually ever bit to the point of breaking skin, but I'm not home enough to break him. He's snapped at 2 delivery drivers, my son's adult male friend, my adult male friend, and my cousin who's also adult male. He fetches, is regulary groomed and is overall a good boy. He's never been aggressive towards our family, 2 adult females and 2 adult males. But I just can't trust him as we live on a farm and many people come and go. I will not surrender him, I believe if someone had the time to spend with him he'd be a great dog with some training. My parents lived alone, Dad took him everywhere and he loves going for rides. Because of my schedule he's alone a lot and I think with daily companionship he would be perfect for someone retired, or worked from home that could spend time with him.
