About Copper and Casey

Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

DFW, Texas, with transport available for right adopter. What's better than 1 best friend?...2 best friends!! And adoption fee is 2 for 1!!! Cooper and Casey are 1 year old Heeler/Pointer mix brothers looking for a home where they have a yard to run and play, while also being indoor loved doggies. Extremely athletic boys - would make great hiking, running companions if trained. Very affectionate but take time to warm up. When they do they are very loving, loyal companions. Not an aggressive bone in their bodies, just get scared and will roll over on their backs, belly up until they feel safe with you. Will bark at new people and dogs and retreat until they get to know them. Dog friendly guys who live with other dogs in their foster home. They are submissive to their foster's dog and playful with other foster dogs in the home. They have learned to love and enjoy being included inside family members. Cooper and Casey will thrive in a home with structure - they have picked up on routines, learned basic commands, run to their crate at meal times and bed time. Intelligent pups who have learned 'sit, stay, wait, ok, off and come when you call them'. At first they stuck to each other, now they choose to be with a human and follow them around while doing chores, working outside, etc but still enjoy each other's company. These boys take their 'job' of keeping your yard free from pesky squirrels seriously and can spend hours patrolling the perimeter and waiting patiently for squirrels to come down from the trees. ;) Walk ok on leash. Cooper is more of a calm, quiet, loving guy who will bond quicker to his people. He is the one who will 'tell' Casey to behave if he's being silly. Casey is more puppy like, but also more daring and can find trouble to get into if bored. They are an entertaining pair to watch wrestle and play chase with each other outside, then lay by their human's feet for nap time. Neither have that nippy/mouthy heeler behavior. Sleep through the night, are not big barkers. Older children recommended for them to be comfortable and feel safe. No cats or apartments for these boys please. Only homes with fully fenced 6' fence can be considered. They love carrots, blueberries, strawberries, treats, bones and frozen kongs. Both are housetrained, crate trained, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including rabies, dewormed, heartworm negative and current on prevention. Cooper is 63 lbs and Casey is 57 lbs. They were saved from an extremely overcrowded high shelter in Texas, where they are being fostered. Transport is available to Colorado and other surrounding states for the right adopter. I am their foster mom and happy to answer any questions you might have. Sponsored by: Western Australian Shepherd Rescue.
