About Solo

Solo is really a sweet dog but does have some special needs. She is easy going indoors. She mainly wants attention, a soft place to lay down, or to just be outside. She a classic 'fetch and tug-of-war' dog. A true velcro dog, she will follow you everywhere in the house. Brief backstory: I adopted her at 10 months of age. She was adopted/rescued for a 'show dog breeder' who did not want her due to her outgrowing the breed standard. This breeder did not keep any vet records on this dog despite her sever limp. (they said she had pano) To my knowledge just 'kept her in the garage'. Working with the vet I was able to get her all fixed up. Her limp was not due to pano but due to a knee injury. Current situation: Solo is thankfully all healed and walking/running fine. Socialization has been an ongoing journey. She is very wary of strangers, but slowly learning that everything isn't out to hurt her. While she does fine with my other GSD (also female but unrelated and two months younger) she is very reactive to other dogs when out and about. Reason for this post: I honestly love this dog, but I know that there is a better situation for her out there. I am likely to have to return to working in the office and don't feel she would do good with a daycare or dog walker. Also, while I've trained my other GSD and Solo's training is going well (still wants to get up and follow you after being put in a 'stay') I know there is someone who would likely be better equipped to handle her reactivity with other dogs and house guests. Make no mistake though I will not give her to just anyone!! While gentle in general she will need to be with someone who is committed to continuing her socialization. Solo is not yet spayed, however that was part of the adoption agreement if the breeder is to release her pedigree. I am willing to split the spay cost. My main objective to find her a loving home.
