About Lizzie

Adoption Fee: $200
Schnauzer / Shih Tzu
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Meet Lizzie, a 10 years young miniature Schnauzer mix whose silvery muzzle speaks to a lifetime of love and companionship. She's eager to find her forever home. Lizzie is the right choice for someone who wants a low-fuss companion to enjoy quiet times together. Likes: Lizzie has a lot of favorable characteristics. She likes to walk on-leash with her human and her foster siblings, who she gets along with quite well. Lizzie is good at riding in the car. She really enjoys her favorite dog bed, where she will curl up and nap or comfortably spend the night. Treats definitely get her attention (no surprise there)! Dislikes: Like many of us, she is not a fan of being awakened from a sound sleep. Being startled can result in a cranky dog, but she recovers quickly. She's also not a big fan of being picked up and carried. Personality: She is willing to go and do whatever her human wants her to do, as long as they are together. Lizzie is a quiet presence who can fit into any environment. While she's past the age to energetically run and play with the puppies, she interacts with them just fine. Energy level: Low to moderate. Sleeping is a good option any time of day or night. However, if there is worthwhile activity to grab her attention, or if food and treats are involved, she will be right there at your side ready to participate. Medical notes: Lizzie appears to be in good overall health. As with any senior, her eyesight and hearing may not be as great as they once were, but they don't give her any trouble. A bit of arthritis may have crept in, but joint supplements and regular activity seem to have that in check. Other features of note: This girl is not noise-sensitive, which is a plus on fireworks-type holidays. She is also not a barker, except when she's excited about dinner. Lizzie is potty trained and is currently learning to use a doggy door. She loves to greet her favorite human at the door whenever they return from the big world outside. Lizzie shows her affection in subtle ways such as greeting you at the door, following you around or sleeping nearby, and leaning in when you give her pets/back scratches. Ideal home: Lizzie would be a great companion for someone who enjoys having a canine friend nearby, but who doesn't want to keep up with an energetic puppy. If Lizzie can curl up in her bed in the same room with you and just hang out with you, she's a happy girl. Lizzie is available for adoption today through Tzu Zoo Rescue (tzuzoorescue.com).
