About Marcy

Marcy is a very sweet dog. She is completely housebroken and crate trained. She is obedient and has had some professional training although she could use a refresher. It takes a while for her to warm up to new people but when she does she is very affectionate to them. She warms up to women faster than men. She spends a large part of the day sleeping or just resting and prefers to be in the same room as her person. Just a few minutes of tug of war or fetch in the living room is enough exercise for her every day. She will go on walks but whoever is walking her needs to be strong to keep hold/control of her as she can be reactive to other dogs/animals. 2 1/2 - 3 miles is her limit. She should NEVER be outside off leash. If she gets outside without her person holding onto her she likes to play the game 'You Can't Catch Me' and she is very good at that game. An ideal home: Marcy thinks she is a small lap dog and she does not know her own size or strength. When she plays she can exhibit some nipping and moves around very quickly without much regard for what's around her. For those reasons she should not be in a home where there are smaller kids. She also should be the only animal in the home. It has been tried to have her cohabitate with another dog. While several months were dedicated to getting the two animals familiar with one another, and while they seemingly were very comfortable with one another it did not work out. While the 2 dogs were snuggled up in the same dog bed (as they had done for months) Marcy attacked the other dog in an unprovoked attack. While the other dog fortunately survived, it did require immeadiate surgery and a 3 night stay in the animal hospital.
