About Duke

Adoption Fee: $300
Bulldog / Beagle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Is your heart stolen looking at this boy's gorgeous brown eyes and sweet baby face? I you think so, just wait until you meet this fantastic little guy. You will be forever smitten. And, guess what, he's available for adoption! Could you be the lucky one who captures his heart? Duke, aka Scooby Du, is about 1 year old. He is likely a Beagle mix. but anybody's guess. Whatever his breeds, he's 40 lbs. of sweetness and fun. He's not a big dog, about 20 inches at the withers (shoulder to paw). He has a lot of hobbies, like stealing treats; stealing hearts, both human and other animals; playing with foster mom's kitties and other dogs; zooming in back yard; getting head to toe massages and brushings. He's also extremely talented at giving kisses and snuggles; learning new things very quickly if treats are involved; walking well on leash; listening to foster mommy and learning from foster fur-sisters and brothers; melting hearts with those gorgeous brown baby dog eyes! Everybody loves Duke and he'll grin to welcome new people when he meets them! Duke is a delightful pup ready for his new home. He's very animal and people-friendly, mixing well in his foster mom's multi-animal home. He's never met a stranger and is always up for some fun. His energy level is good but not crazy and a good walk (40-45 minutes) with some zooming and play in back yard a couple of times a day will get him ready to snuggle with you and go to sleep. Scooby Du has shown some signs of separation anxiety (he was an owner surrender to a local shelter so was traumatized by that). He is responding well to efforts to address that in his foster home. He will need someone who is patient and knows how to continue working with him on that as well as a confident, kind fur-sibling who can help him know he's safe. He sits, stays, and recall is getting really good; training continues. He is reliably house-trained and is crate trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night. His foster mom thinks he's pretty much perfect. He can get a little mouthy when he gets really excited during play, but his foster mom and fur-siblings are helping him understand that is not acceptable and how to sublimate that natural tendency. He's still very much a puppy in many ways. So, any interaction with young children will need to be closely supervised. He will also need another dog in the home who is confident and will help him learn good doggy social skills, kindly. He learns very, very quickly and is anxious to please. No apartments or condos for this boy - he loves a good run in the back yard and is a master zoomer. No dog parks as this little fellow is humble and wants to play with everyone, even dogs who may not like him. As part of Duke's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
