About Belly

Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

We don't know most of her story but she went viral on Tik-Tok in January because she was living on the streets of Stockton and clearly had medical issues. Finally animal control picked her up, gave her 15 days at the shelter and then was set to euthanize her for being older and over-population issues. At 4:55 p.m on January 12th Nia Casad of Pawdyguard Rescue in Salinas told me Belly was going to be euthanized at 5:00... she would rescue her if I could foster her.... yikes! So that's what we did. Stockton employees were so happy because they loved her... and the vet there said we could come back to get her spayed and get numerous external skin 'tumors' removed. That's all done now. She is older, has some medical issues with her hind legs (hip displasia and both ACL's damaged). She is a pit so she charges thru but we have her on Librela and Carprofen which will be life long for her. She might need more than that but Nia's rescue is very small and does not have the funds to find out exactly what is wrong. We have a stated commitment from an adopter who says she can take Belly in April... I am not 100% convinced she will see it thru but I hope so... but I still think putting her up for other adoption possibilities would be best... and though she is really pretty happy with me... it could be more ideal for her to be in a space where she is in the main house with the foster... in my situation I have two cats who don't want anything to do with her... though I think Belly would adapt to a cat or two eventually... so we have her living in her own apartment attached to the house which is pretty plush but she really wants to be with us all the time... the best foster would be able to give her that. This sweetheart of a girl who has had a hell of a rough life up until now.
