About Samson (Sammy)

Meet Sammy, a true man's best friend. He's 5-6 years old. He doesn't have any health problems that are known but one of his eyes has a congenital defect where it appears dilated. The vet has confirmed it does NOT affect his vision. Sammy is neutered. We have not confirmed it but he may detect seizures as our son has epilepsy (focal/absent) seizures and whenever he has seizures Sammy stays by his size hours afterwards. He is great with kids, LOVES men and does well with cats and dogs although it does take him a few days to get used to new pets. He is completely potty trained and knows a few commands such as sit, lay, paw. We live in a rural area with lots of surrounding woods and he loves to 'track' he'd honestly probably be an amazing duck hunting dog. The issue is, our neighboring property is leased to hunters. Our dogs have escaped the fence several times and he has already been shot once by the hunters with a nonlethal that required surgery as it knocked an artery and cauterization would not stop the bleed. The hunters claim he was acting aggressive but he was shot in the back of his front dog so he was proven to be running away from the hunter when shot and they complain that they run the deer off for days. We did have an incident a while back where he nipped my son when my son leaned down to hug him. My son squeezed around his neck and we believe he hurt him or scared him. He has never other than that incident done anything like that again and loves my kids so much but I would be hesitant to place him with small kids that would tug on him or unintentionally hurt him.
