Selena is a sweet girl but she has not been well socialized and is still afraid of a lot of things. She is very attached to men and would love a male owner. She would be the most loyal little girl and follow him everywhere! When her foster dad leaves for work or an errand she cries and cries. She is not a fan of being left alone and needs a home where people can spend a lot of time with her. Selena is particularly afraid of fast movements (standing up, reaching out to pet her) and 'loud' noises (like doors shutting or tv volume/music louder than soft). If you move slowly and make her feel safe she likes getting pets and will let you pick her up. Selena is good with other dogs and definitely needs a calm dog buddy to show her the ropes. She's done really well at taking cues from the other dogs in her foster home. She's tried to play with one of the other dogs and is starting to express interest in toys although she does not know what they are or understand the concept of playing yet. We have not had her around cats or kids. We don't know how she would be with cats, but kids are probably going to scare her unless they are older kids (12+) familiar with dogs. Selena is too afraid of the unknown for any leash walking and must have a home with a fenced yard. She's also scared in the car. We think once she's learned how to be a loved pet she will warm up to both though. Selena did do well with her house breaking in one of her foster homes, but not so much in another. She is pretty good as long as she gets regular potty breaks or there's an open door to outside. This is just something that will need to be worked on! At night she would prefer to sleep in the bed with her people. Selena need to home with somebody who can be very patient with her and give her time to adjust and settle in with lots of love and reassurance. She will likely be anxious in a new home we hope somebody will give her a chance to show them what a special little girl she is! She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She had a dental when she had her spay and she is all ready to go to her new home! *We are located in Pensacola Florida. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
