About Toby

Meet Toby (Cowboy)! He is a handsome chocolate lab who was rescued from a kill shelter in Tennessee. He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 67 pounds. He is very laid back, very smart, and bonds quickly. After a short week, he is doing great with his training. He takes treats gently. He has no problem going in his extra-large crate during the night and while running short errands (no whining or barking) until we get to know him better. There have been no accidents, and he seems to be fully house-trained. He has not chewed on anything so far. He will take it upon himself to get a certain blanket or pillow off the sofa and lay it by himself but does not chew. He doesn't seem to know how to play with toys. He is more of a dog that loves people. He loves being outdoors but is very content hanging with his people indoors. Toby does require a privacy fence in the yard. He will need to get acclimated to his new environment before being left unattended in a backyard. He recently met some small children and did great with them. Toby's been so gentle and relaxed around a nineteen-month-old. Good boy Toby! He's walking on a leash and needs additional loose-lead training. He shows a little anxiety while walking near a lot of traffic but doesn't mind the normal neighborhood traffic. He has not been reactive to other dogs or squirrels on walks.
