About Bambi

Bambi came into my life almost four months ago. I took her in because she was going back to a kill shelter and at the time, she was not adoptable due to her biting out of fear. I had fostered abused dogs before, so I took her in to save her and to show her love. She is scared of storms, big dogs, open spaces, loud noises and many other things. Bambi has NEVER been walked on a lead. In addition, I have gathered that she was neglected, beaten, left out in the elements and used to make puppies. She has gained weight since I got her and now weighs approx. 10 lbs. At first, I had to use gloves to deal with her because she would try to bite and run in a corner and tremble. She was so scared. Now, I give her kisses and put her in my lap and hug her. She has let me put a sweater on her and cut her nails. She plays with toys and socializes with my two chihuahuas and king Charles. She loves to sleep underneath her blankets and sleeps with a teddy bear. She has beautiful markings and thin long legs. She is extremely shy and still tries to run away if scared. I feel she would be a great companion to someone who lives alone, or a mature couple. If you have experience with abused dogs, it would really be helpful. SHE IS NOT READY to be taken out and be exposed to certain situations with lots of people or open spaces. There is still much work to be done but I know she is worth it. It will take a lot of patience, understanding and hands on training to get Bambi to trust and ultimately come out of her shell and live a happy life.
