About Charlie

We adopted Charlie, a lovely pup from the local shelter, seven months ago as a companion for our first dog, and while Charlie is a fantastic and fun loving boy, it has backfired for our family. Our existing dog has become so incredibly depressed as a direct result of this new dog joining the family - he has stopped eating, stopped interacting, and often tries to 'protect' our kids from the new dog through aggressive lunging and biting, which is dangerous for the children (and dangerous to Charlie as well). We feel awful about our mistake in trying to find him a companion when that wasn't what was best for him. Our nine-month-old pup, Charlie, is ��%BD'��%BD| awesome! He loves other people and kids, enjoys wrestling with other big dogs, and he is doing his best to coexist with our cat, but he does have a hunting breed's underlying prey instinct, so we don't leave the two of them unsupervised. We have worked extremely hard on human/dog socialization and training, so he is a very, very good boy, and he has a constant smile on his face that cracks everyone up on our daily walks. He will play fetch or tug with you for hours on end, and he loves being by your side. He deserves a very, VERY good home. Charlie is a handsome and healthy mixed breed, but is mostly Catahoula Leopard Dog, and he acts as such. He needs to RUN! This pup needs a large property and/or an owner that will exercise with him twice a day. It's simply part of how this breed operates. They are loyal, intelligent, LOVE being with their people, and they definitely need to be active. He is a great companion and member of a family, NOT a chained property ornament or guard dog. We will thoroughly do our research before allowing Charlie to join another family.
