Name: Apollo Age: DOB 12/24/2022 Breed: Saint Bernard (170 pounds) Sex: Male (neutered per owner, not confirmed) Location: Riverside County, CA Apollo is a handsome fellow whose owner is no longer able to care for him. He writes, 'Apollo had been blind in one eye since birth but his vision has gotten worse. I fear that I do not have the time or tools to properly help him.' Vet Info: Apollo is neutered, up to date with vaccines, and heartworm negative per his owner, but this has not been confirmed. Dog Info: His owner has had Apollo since he was about three months old, and got him from a family friend whose dog had puppies. Apollo is an outdoor dog with a fenced yard and is not housebroken, but is leash trained. Apollo lives with three other dogs and is fine with them, but his owner tells us he doesn't think Apollo has been around a female dog. Apollo has been around men the majority of the time, but has also been around women. He may lunge at people he doesn't recognize, and his owner gave us more details: 'Also he is very anxious since he cannot see and has lunged at people before he recognized them.' He tells us Apollo has never bitten. His owner also shared that he always announces himself when he is near Apollo because Apollo doesn't seem to have a good sense of smell. His owner is concerned that due to his size, Apollo may hurt someone without meaning to. Apollo is looking for a special home/rescue who can understand his needs and work carefully with him. He cannot go to a home with children. Apollo's owner wants us to know Apollo is a good boy! He tells us, 'He is a sweet boy just gets confused... He is extremely loyal and such a sweetheart.' ***Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
