LOCATION: Curtice, Ohio DOB: 03/10/2019 Hi! I'm still with my owner right now. I'm looking for a foster (fosters get first option to adopt!). This way the team can get to know me better and get an all clear from the vet. Read my bio below! Athena is a combination of grace and grandeur. She is a harlequin extra-large Great Dane with a loving demeanor. She is a gentle giant with a regal presence. This magnificent dame is not just beautiful; she's exceptionally well-behaved. House trained, leash trained, and proficient in basic obedience, Athena has impeccable canine manners. She revels in the joy of car rides, though she does require slow introductions to strangers, especially when approached near her beloved vehicle. Athena should be fed separately. Her selective nature extends to her canine companions, requiring very slow, patient introductions to ensure compatibility. Cats are not her cup of tea as she seems to go into hunter mode. She has been known to bark at horses and was once kicked by one. Unclear if a lesson was learned by poor Athena. Despite her strong exterior, Athena is a gentle soul. Although she is leash trained, those pesky squirrels and other dogs might trigger her chasing instincts. She is crate trained. She enjoys the car but can be both a companion and protector in that space, barking to assert her presence. She has not shown food aggression. She enjoys a small treat of milk before bedtime. In her previous living arrangement, she had a male large dog as a companion, and although the initial week was an adjustment, she gradually accepted her four-legged friend. Her ideal home is one of tranquility, where she can enjoy leisurely walks and nap beside her human companions. Athena, the epitome of low-maintenance elegance, thrives on gentle human companionship. She cherishes sleeping with her people, whether it's on the floor or in the bed. When you speak to her, she gazes into your eyes, as if understanding every word spoken. She enjoys playing hide and seek with her toys and being with her humans. With her laid-back demeanor and quirky charm, she truly is an exceptional dog, offering the perfect blend of companionship, elegance, and loyalty. She just needs a tolerant owner to help her stay focused and behaved with leash manners on walks.
