About Ollie

Ollie is a 7yr old Red Healer / Australian Cattle Dog / Jack Russell Terrier mix. Don't let his age fool you. He is the epitome of a JRT/Cattle dog. Lots of life and healthy, smart and loads of fun and sweet with that typical JRT tenacity. His absolute favorite thing in the world is to play fetch. He will play for hours if you let him. He will always bring you back the ball and drop it in front of you so you can throw it again and again. He has an excellent recall. Knows sit, paw and roll over. His stay is to be desired. I could see him excelling at agility or flyball. He aslo loves to run, explore, hike, and herd and after a long day of play, snuggle on the couch with you for chest rubs or will happily lay in his bed or crate. Ollie is good with other dogs his size and cats and has been around horses too. He can not be around birds though such as ducks or chickens. If he can get one he will. He would be a great mouser in a barn. He likes to hunt vermin or chase after any small critters in the yard, including ground hogs. But he would prefer only having 1 or 2 canine siblings if any. He currently is in a home with multiple dogs including giant breeds. He is very defensive and nervous around them. He prefers ones his size, and doesn't like playing rough. He is fine on walks when he sees another dog, and is curious, but if they play rough or he gets fearful he will become defensive. Ollie is also good around kids but I wouldn't recommend toddlers that can get a bit too rowdy. He has never lived with or been exposed often to young kids that age. Older kids that have been around dogs and know how to behave around one and want to have a buddy to play fetch with, would be great.
